Man Arrested for Soliciting for Fake Charity

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The information below comes from the Highland Park Police Department.

Theft by deception

James Myers, 19, of the 6800 block of S. Dorchester, Chicago was arrested and charged with felony theft by deception after police responded to a public complaint of an unwanted solicitor in the 400 block of Pleasant Avenue, Highland Park. Myers was located and the charity he was soliciting for was found to be a scam. Myers was also wanted by Cook County Sheriff on an outstanding warrant. Myers was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan pending court date.

 Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a report of graffiti on the north side entrance glass doors of a school located in the 500 block of Red Oak Lane, Highland Park. The graffiti did not appear to be gang related.

Police are investigating a report of graffiti on the east side of a school garage located in the 2000 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. The graffiti did not appear to be gang related.

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property. Sometime between 7 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 27, an unknown subject damaged a first floor window on a residence with one bb.  The outer pane of a double pane window had approximately an 1/8 of an inch round hole in it with a bb between the panes. The incident occurred in the 700 block of North Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating multiple reports of criminal damage to property. Three residences in the 700 block of Llewellyn were damaged by BB's. A 2nd floor flood lamp was shot out, multiple indentations on siding and a front window was cracked and a front yard light was shot out.

Retail theft

Kendall Harris (27) of the 7900 block of S. Ada, Chicago was arrested and charged with two counts of Retail Theft and David Rice (26) of the 14700 block of S. Atlantic Street, Dolton was arrested and charged with one count of Retail Theft after Lincolnwood Police recovered a Samsung Galaxy tablet stolen from a business located in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park. Harris and Rice were transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan pending court dates.

Theft under $500

Police are investigating a delayed report of theft. An unknown person stole scrap metal from the rear exterior lot of a business located in the 1500 block of Old Skokie Road, Highland Park on Nov. 27 at approximately 6:24 p.m.

Battery

A minor of the 1200 block of Wood Street, Deerfield was arrested and charged with battery after police responded to a report of a fight at a school in the 700 block of Red Oak Lane, Highland Park. The minor was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of January 9, 2013 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City. 

Disorderly conduct

Ottoniel Quinonez, 24, of the 1200 block of Elmwood Avenue, Waukegan was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after witnesses stated Quinonez had kicked a door to an open business in the 400 block of Old Elm Road, Highland Park and pulled the fire alarm. Quinonez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 26, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City.
