Mayor Reacts to Highland Park Homicide

Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering has "every confidence the city's police investigation into the murder of 20-year-old resident Colin Nutter.

This letter is written by Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering.

Dear Friends and Neighbors: 

I extend my sincerest condolences to the family of Colin Nutter in the wake of this tragic loss of their son. Like many others, I experience this news first as a parent and am extraordinarily saddened by this young life lost too soon. 

Public safety has always been and will continue to be the City’s top priority. I have every confidence in the Highland Park Police Department and applaud their work and the tremendous collaboration they have provided to the Wilmette Police Department, Highwood Police Department, Lake County Major Crimes Task Force and the agency leading the investigation, the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force. I have full confidence that this investigation will be completed in a thorough, professional and expeditious manner.

The State’s Attorney will be issuing a media release pertaining to this tragedy later today. The release will then be available on the City’s web page at www.cityhpil.com

The Highland Park Police Department will continue to keep our community safe and provide all necessary resources and support to the Crimes Task Force.
