Norris, Mahoney Cases Move Forward

Pre trial dates set for Deerfield teens indicted for invading Highland Park home.

An attorney for one of the Deerfield teens charged in an August 2 invasion of a Highland Park home told a Lake County Criminal Court judge today in Waukegan he continues to gather information to defend his client.

, one of the two defendants in the case, told Judge Daniel Shanes he needs additional time to prepare his client’s defense.

“Right now we’re continuing to investigate,” Cronson said. “We may have a motion to file.” Cronson had nothing further to say about potential motions or anything else after the pretrial hearing.

Shanes wanted reassure himself Mahoney realized what was happening. “I want you to understand what just happened,” Shanes said to Mahoney. “Mr. Cronson wants more time to work on this.” Mahoney told the judge he understood.

, was originally scheduled to be in court today but his attorney, Robert Gevirtz, appeared before Shanes recently to ask for a later date, according to Assistant Lake County State’ Attorney Reginald Mathews.

Norris next appears in court at 9 a.m. Nov. 21. Mahoney’ next court date is at 9 a.m. Dec. 21. Both hearings take place in Waukegan.
