Police Blotter: Gasoline, Blackberry Stolen From Vehicles

Also graffiti and cannabis possession are among in this week's police report.

The following items are provided by the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft

Police are investigating the reported theft of $51 in gasoline in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the reported theft of a Black Blackberry Bold cell phone from a vehicle on Sept. 14 in the 2600 block of Waukegan Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a retail theft that occurred Sept. 9 in the 1500 block of Old Deerfield Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the theft of three spare tires between March and mid-September in the 1300 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the theft of an iPad that occurred between Sept. 5 and 8 from an unlocked vehicle in the 1200 block of Hilary Lane, Highland Park.

Driving while license suspended

Gregorio Nachor, 71, of the 2400 block of West Farragut in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and squealing his tires after police stopped his vehicle in the 400 block of Roger Williams Avenue in Highland Park. Nachor has was released on bond with a court date of Oct. 12.

Carlos Moya, 20, of the 100 block of Philippa Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding after his vehicle was stopped by police in the 100 block of the Edens Expressway in Highland Park. He has a court date of Oct. 26 in Park City.

Richard Price, 39, of the 11000 block of Haley Court in Orland Park, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding after police stopped his vehicle in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. Price has a court date of Oct. 12.

Criminal damage to property

Elvin Portella-Ramos, 23, of the 800 block of Laurel Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property after police were called to the 1500 block of McDaniels Avenue in Highland Park for a vandalism report. A vehicle had been marked up with spray paint. Portella-Ramos has a court date of Oct. 5.

Police are investigating graffiti that occurred between Sept. 11 and 14 in the 800 block of Woodbine Road, Highland Park.

Driving under the influence

Horacio Patlan, 23, of the 2000 block of Grestem Circle in Gurnee, was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of cannabis after he was stopped by police in the 2700 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Patlan has a court date of Oct. 14 in Waukegan.

Gilberto Castro, 18, of the 2900 block of 20th Street in North Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol and making an improper turn. His vehicle was stopped by police in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Castro has a court date of Oct. 14.

Nicholas Batrich, 24, of the 400 block of Howard Street in Evanston, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed after police responded to a report that a car struck a tree near the intersection of Arbor Avenue and Berkeley Road, Highland Park. Batrich has a court date of Oct. 14.

Burglary

Police are investigating a residential burglary that occurred between Sept. 14 and 17 in the 1100 block of Deerfield Place, Highland Park.
