Police Blotter: High Incident of DUI Arrests

The Highland Park Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DUI arrest

Andres M. Calderon, 33, of the 600 block of Appleton Road in Menasha, WI, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. He was also charged with improper lane usage and having no drivers license after police stopped his vehicle at Skokie Valley Road and Chantilly Boulevard, Highland Park. Calderon was released on bond, and has a court date of Sept. 2.

Kristen M. Koe, 37, of the 400 block of Julian Street in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and speeding after her vehicle was stopped by the police in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. She was released on bond, and has a court date of Sept. 2.

Adam K. Simkowski, 23, of the 1700 block of Tanglewood Square in Indianapolis, IN, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and speeding. Police said a test showed that Simkowski had a blood alcohol content of more than .08 after his vehicle was stopped in the 1500 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park. Simkowski was released on a bond, and has a court date of Sept. 9.

Ramone M. Murray, 21, of the 8800 block of Dee Road in Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. He registered a blood alcohol content level of more than .08 after police stopped his vehicle in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Murray was also charged with improper lane usage, failure to secure child in seat belt, endangering the life of a child and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. His court date was pending.

Aaron L. Brown, 32, of the 1000 block of North Butrick Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI). Other charges against him included aggravated DUI due to his license being revoked for a previous DUI, driving while his was license revoked, and driving off the roadway. Police arrested Brown after an accident investigation in the 1800 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. His court date was pending.

Leonel Tapia, 37, of the 1900 block of Seymour Avenue in North Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane usage. He was also charged with aggravated DUI due to his license being revoked for a prior DUI. Police said his blood alcohol content level was more than .08. They stopped Tapia's vehicle in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. He was released on bond, and has a court date of Sept. 9.
