Police Blotter: Intimidation and Obstructing Justice

Also burglary and theft in Wednesday's police report.

The following items are taken from the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Car part theft

Police are investigating the reported theft of motor vehicle parts, namely a catalytic converter, between 5 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8:50 a.m. Feb. 7 in the 1400 block of Old Deerfield Road.

Obstructing justice

Dragan Nikolic of Chicago was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice for an incident reported in November 2010. He posted bond and was released pending a court hearing.

Illegal transportation of alcohol

Fredy Alonso-Cruz of Park City was arrested and charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and disobeying a stop sign after police pulled his vehicle over at Beverly Place and Hilary Lane.  He was released on bond, and has a Feb 23 court hearing.

Burglary

Police are investigating the theft of jewelry during a burglary that occurred between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Taylor Avenue.

Police are investigating two vehicular burglaries, which occurred about  9 p.m. on Feb. 11 in the 900 block of Chaucer Lane. Sunglasses, keys, cell phone charger, shoes and loose change were reported missing. 

Driving while license suspended

Nicholas S. Sheeler of Round Lake was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license after his vehicle was stopped by the police in the 900 Park Avenue. He was released on bond, and has a March 16 court hearing.

Rogger Uriel Guzman of Waukegan was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and disobeying a traffic signal. Police stopped his vehicle  in the 2300 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was released on bond, and has a March 16 court hearing.

Jose A. Sedano of Highland Park was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license after police stopped his vehicle at Deerfield and Old Deerfield roads. He was released on bond, and has a March 9 court hearing.

Misuse of credit card

Angela A. Jones of Chicago was arrested and charged with misuse of a credit card in the 2300 block of Skokie Valley Road involving an incident reported in 2005.  She was transported to bond court.

Criminal damage to property

Christian J. Brand of Highland Park was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct after police stopped him at Laurel Avenue and Second Street.  He was released on bond, and has a March 23 court hearing. 

Intimidation

Alfredo Gaytan of Waukegan was arrested and charged with intimidation after police stopped him in the 400 block of Vine Avenue. He was processed for transport to bond court.

Driving under the influence

Adrian L. Moreno of Plainfield was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license and speeding. Police stopped his vehicle in the 1400 block of Park Avenue West. He was released on a bond, and has a March 4 court hearing.

Brandon D. Justice of Lansing was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after police stopped his vehicle in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was released on bond, and has a March 28 court hearing.
