Police Blotter: Juvenile Robbed; Vehicles Vandalized

Battery arrests also reported in this week's files.

The following items were provided by the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Driving infractions

Patrick E. Peterson, II, 21, of the 4900 block of Aster Street in East Chicago, IN, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after police were dispatched to a traffic accident in the 1700 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. Peterson was released on bond, and has a court date of Sept. 28.

Lydia Cichanski, 29, of the 900 block of East Willow Road, Prospect Heights, Illinois was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and uninsured motor vehicle after being stopped by police in the 1000 block of Ridge Road in Highland Park.  Cichanski was released on bond with a court date of September 28, 2011 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City.

Ricardo Williams, 22, of the 1100 block of North Cleveland in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and having an expired registration after police stopped his vehcile in the 10 block of Edens Expressway in Highland Park. Williams was released on bond, and has a court date of Sept. 28.

Miguel Hernandez, 26, of the 300 block of Palmer Avenue in Highwood, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, illegal transportation of open alcohol container and making an improper turn after police pulled over his vehicle in the 10 block of the Edens Expressway in Highland Park. Hernandez was released on bond, and has a court date of Sept. 28.

Christopher Bradin, 22, of the 1700 block of Golf Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and speeding after his vehicle was stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. Bradin has a court date of Sept. 28.

Carmelo Delgado-Pineda, 23, of the 100 Block of South Lewis in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license after police stopped him in the 100 block of the Edens Expressway in Highland Park. Delgado-Pineda has a court date of Oct. 12.

Jeffrey Wright, 24, of the 100 Block of North Genesee Street in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, speeding and unlawful use of a driver’s license. He was taken into custody after police stopped his vehicle in the 1800 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. Wright has a court date of Sept. 28.

Vandalism to property

Police are investigating the report of graffiti damage in the 200 block of Leonard Wood South.

Police are investigating the report of vandalism in which a key was apparently used to leave scratch marks on a vehicle parked in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road.

Police are investigating the delayed report of a criminal damage to property involving the gluing of a paper to a car in the 700 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a graffiti damage in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a criminal damage to property involving a bent license plate and scratched window in the 1900 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of criminal damage to property involving a key apparently being used to scratch a vehicle parked overnight on Sept. 4 in the 100 block of Grant Street, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a mailbox knocked off its post in the 1700 block of Cloverdale Avenue, Highland Park.

Battery arrests

Maycon Rodriguez, 17, of the 200 block of Highwood Avenue in Highwood, was arrested and charged with battery, unlawful restraint and consumption of alcohol by a minor after police were dispatched for a well-being check in the 2000 block of Sheridan Road in Highland Park. Rodriguez was transported to Lake County Bond Court pending a court date.

David Bertucci, 42, of the 90 block of Leonard Wood North inHighland Park, was arrested and charged with battery after police were dispatched to a disturbance in the 90 block of Leonard Wood North in Highland Park. Bertucci has a court date of Sept. 19.

Property theft

Police are investigating the report of a bike theft in the 400 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the theft of an iPhone 4 in the 400 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the theft of a Viking commercial-size grill from the 1600 block of Grove Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the theft of an engagement ring valued at $13,000 and $520 in cash that occurred between May and Sept. 2 in the 400 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Underage alcohol consumption

William Natal, Jr., 20, of the 2700 block of Rutherford Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with illegal transportation of an open alcohol container when police responded to a noise complaint in the 700 block of Judson Avenue in Highland Park. He was given a court date of Sept. 23.

Natal’s passenger John Dominguez, also 20, of the 4900 block of Schubert in Chicago, was cited for underage consumption of alcohol. His court date is Oct. 20. 

Robbery of juvenile

Police are investigating a robbery in the 400 block of Vine Avenue. A juvenile reported being grabbed from behind and having an iPhone 4 removed from his backpack. 

DUI arrests

Andrew Sawicki, 22,  of the 100 block of Siems Circle in Roselle, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, operation of hand-held device while driving and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was arrested after police responded to a driving complaint in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Sawicki has a court date of Sept. 23.

Edison Reformado, 25, of the 400 block of Longfellow in Deerfield, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, failure to signal and improper lane usage after police stopped his vehicle in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road in Highland Park. Reformado was released on bond, and has a court date of Oct. 7.

Richard T. Weithas, 73, of the 100 block of East Illinois Road in Lake Forest, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after police responded to a driving complaint in the 2200 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. Weithas has a court date of Oct. 7.

Antonio Bedolla, 32, of the 3000 block of South Normal Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, a traffic signal violation and endangering the life of a child. Police pulled his vehicle over near the intersection of Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. Bedolla was released on bond, and has a court date of Oct. 7.

Leonides Rios Jr., 41, of the 2700 block of West Fullerton Avenue in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence, operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was arrested after police responded to an accident in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. His court date is Oct. 7.
