Police Blotter: Pot Possession; Stolen Auto Parts

The following items are taken from the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Possession of cannabis

Richard J. Wyatt, 18, of the 500 block of Whittier Avenue in Deerfield, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis in the 200 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. He was released on bond with a court date of June 8.

Driving under the influence 

Lisa A. Makoul, 52, of the 1100 block of Florence Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding after police stopped her in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.  She was released on bond with a court date of June 17.

Driving while license suspended

Manuel Gallo, 43, of the 3200 block of West 64th Place in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage after his vehicle was stopped by the police at Northland Avenue and Ridge Road, Highland Park. He was released on bond with a court date of June 22.

Charles L. Chew, 25, of the 5700 block of South Paulina in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and speeding after he was stopped by the police in the 1400 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. He was released on bond with a court date of June 8.

Jose J. Raya, 48, of the 900 block of Deerfield Road in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle after being stopped by the police near Temple and Waukegan avenues, Highland Park.  He was released on bond with a court date of June 22.

Phillip A. Williams, 53, of the 600 block of Lenox Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and improper lane usage after police stopped him in the 2900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. He was released on bond with a Court date of June 22.

Consumption of alcohol by a minor

Andrew B. Abrams, 18, of the 2300 block of Linden Avenue in Highland Park, and Jonathan B. Silberstein, of the 400 block of Laurel Avenue in Highland Park, were issued administrative citations. Abrams was cited for consumption of alcohol by minor and possession of false identification. Silberstein cited for consumption of alcohol by minor.

Police issued the citations after they were called to the 200 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park, to investigate a suspicious activity report.

Both Abrams and Silbersten are expected in administrative court on June 16.

Theft

Police are investigating a theft of truck and auto parts between May 21 and 23 in the 2200 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. The estimated value of items is $2,000.
