Police Blotter: Sexual Assault

Also theft and criminal damage in today's police report.

The following items are taken from the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary to a motor vehicle

On Dec. 16, around 7:32 a.m., police investigated a stolen navigation device and iPod from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Sherwood Road, sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 16.

Around 9:56 a.m., police investigated a report of burglary to a motor vehicle which had been entered by breaking a window in the 1900 block of Linden Avenue sometime overnight.

Later that day, around 5:15 p.m., police investigated a report of a stolen briefcase, GPS, cash and a placard from a vehicle in the 1300 block of Eastwood Avenue sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 7 a.m. on Dec. 16.

On Dec. 18, around 5:07 p.m., police investigated a report of a stolen purse from a motor vehicle in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

On Dec. 20, around 12:45 p.m., police investigated a delayed report of a stolen GPS, keyring, wrench sets, drill set and drill bits from a car in the 2100 block of Park Avenue, which occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 16.

Theft

On Dec. 16, around 6:59 p.m., 19-year-old Laura Colores was arrested and charged with theft of gift cards after police were called to the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, police reported. She was processed and released on a cash bond.

On Dec. 19, around 9:19 a.m., police investigated a report of the theft of newspapers in the 1700 block of Caveil Avenue.

Aggravated criminal sexual assault

On Dec. 17, around 7:03 p.m., 64-year-old Felix Llanes-Serna was arrested and charged with unlawful restraint and aggravated criminal sexual assault after police were called to the 2000 block of Green Bay Road. He was transported to bond court.

Criminal damage

On Dec. 18, around 3:31 p.m., police investigated a report of criminal damage to a mailbox sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 and 3 p.m. on Dec. 18 and tire tracks in the backyard on Dec. 13 in the 2800 block of Lexington Lane.
