Police Blotter: Six DUIs in One Week

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Burglary from motor vehicle

Police are investigating a report of burglary to two unlocked vehicles parked in a driveway in the 800 block of Virginia Road, Highland Park. The vehicles were entered sometime overnight between 2:40 a.m. and 3 a.m. The vehicles appeared rummaged through with no items reported missing.

Police are investigating a report of burglary to two landscape trailers. It was reported that an unknown person forcibly entered two landscape trailers while parked in the 1400 block of Old Skokie Road, Highland Park. Both trailers had the lock hasp on the side door cut. 3 Red Max gas blowers (back pack style), 1 Echo Weed Eater and 1 Echo Trimmer were stolen from one trailer and 1 Echo Weed Eater and 1 Echo Trimmer were stolen from the other trailer. The incident occurred sometime between November 22, 2012 at 7 a.m. and November 23, 2012 at 7a.m.

Theft under $500

Lorenzo Barrios, 53, of the 1000 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with theft under $500 after police investigated the initial report of an employee theft from a business in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. Barrios was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 12, 2012.

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a report of three subjects that were observed throwing items at the windows of a building in the 1500 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. Extensive damage was observed including a kicked-in glass front door, spray painting, burning and destruction of office equipment.

Police are investigating a report of two subjects that were observed damaging two lamps in a front yard with a baseball bat in the 600 block of Ridge Road, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property where an unknown  vehicle drove off of the roadway and struck mail box post. The noise was heard at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Nov. 22. The incident occurred in the 2300 block of Highmoor Road, Highland Park. 

Possession of cannabis

Elliott Gutman, 18, of the 200 block of Aspen Lane, Highland Park was cited administratively for possession of cannabis after police on routine patrol observed a suspiciously parked unoccupied vehicle in the 500 block of Red Oak Lane, Highland Park. Gutman was cited and released with an administrative court date of December 20, 2012 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. 

Patrick White, 18, of the 26000 block of N. Farwell Road, Lake Forest was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and stop sign violation after being stopped by police near the intersection of Beverly Place and Park Avenue West, Highland Park. White was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 26, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City. 

William Smolen, 18, of the 400 block of Cedar Avenue, Highland Park was cited administratively for possession of cannabis after police on routine patrol observed a suspiciously parked occupied vehicle in the 500 block of Red Oak Lane, Highland Park. Smolen was cited and released with an administrative court date of December 20, 2012 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park. 

Kenyatta Gaines, 33, of the 200 block of W. Prairie Lane, Round Lake was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped by police for improper lane usage in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Gaines was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 12, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City. 

Driving under the influence

Jacqueline Goense, 25, of the 0-100 block of W. Goethe Street, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper turn and uninsured motor vehicle after being stopped by police near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Chicago Avenue, Highland Park. Goense was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 7, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Jonathan Banks, 26, of the 39000 block of N. Ackworth, Wadsworth, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and speeding after being stopped by police in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Banks was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 14, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Kurtis Schauer, 48, of the 900 block of Asbury Avenue, Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle and speeding after being stopped by police near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Homewood Avenue, Highland Park. Schauer was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of January 4, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Cesar Alarcon-Bonilla, 30, of the 2700 block of S. Harding Avenue, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and no valid drivers license after being stopped by police near the intersection of Central Avenue and Sheridan Road, Highland Park. Alarcon-Bonilla was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of January 4, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Han Yem, 28, of the 4900 block of N. Lawndale Avenue, Chicago was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Yem was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of December 14, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Aaron Cole, 36, of the 4800 block of 17th Avenue, Kenosha, Wisconsin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, speeding and improper lane usage after being stopped by police in the 1500 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Cole was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of January 4, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.
