Police Blotter: Stolen Diamond Earrings, GPS Units

Eight car burglaries along Elm Place last week.

The following items are taken from the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Criminal damage to property 

Police are investigating the report of a criminal damage to property (tire on vehicle was punctured and feces placed in the mail box) over the past month in the 900 block of Pleasant Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a criminal damage to property (graffiti) in the 1700 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a criminal damage to property overnight (vehicle door has a large dent in it and a partial shoe print) in the 1900 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a criminal damage to property incident (damage to wooden fence) in the 2000 block of Painters Lake Road, Highland Park.

Driving under the influence

James Budish, 60, of the 800 block of Timber Hill Road, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to display driver’s license after police were called to the report of a vehicle accident near the intersection of Clavey Road and Green Bay Road in Highland Park.  Budish was released on bond with a court date of Nov. 4.

Marko Antic, 22, of the 400 block of Kelburn, Deerfield, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol and speeding after being stopped by police near the intersection of Half Day Road and Summit Avenue in Highland Park. Antic was released on bond with a court date of November 18.

Paulino Ramirez-Osorio, 40, of the 100 block of High Street, Highwood, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol, uninsured motor vehicle and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park.  Ramirez-Osorio was released after posting bond with a court date of Nov. 18.

Possession of cannabis

Jawil Williams, 24, of the 2300 block of Hollyridge Drive, Plainfield, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Williams was released on bond with a court date of Nov. 9.

Anthony Coniglio, 33, of the 1100 block of South Edgewood, Lombard, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park. Williams was released on bond with a court date of Nov. 23.

Theft

Police are investigating the report of a theft (multiple jewelry items) in the 1500 block of Oakwood Avenue, Highland Park, Illinois.

Police are investigating the report of a theft (10 place setting of sterling silver silverware) in the 1900 block of Lewis Lane, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a Theft (currency from wallet) in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a theft (diamond earrings) in the 400 block of Pleasant Avenue, Highland Park.

Sherre Brutzkus, 58, of the 1800 block of Sherman Avenue, Evanston, was arrested and charged on Oct. 23 with retail theft after police responded to a report of a shoplifter in the 600 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. Brutzkus was released on bond with a court date of Dec. 14.

Police are investigating the report of a Theft ($41 in gasoline) in the 700 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a theft (two pairs of earrings and a necklace) in the 800 block of Woodbine Avenue, Highland Park.

Battery and disorderly conduct

Jay Schloemer, 42, of the 1600 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with battery and disorderly conduct after police were called to a dispute in the 1700 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park. Schloemer was released on bond with a court date of Nov. 28.

Driving while license suspended

Sheri Guadarrama, 19, of the 4200 block of Greenleaf Court, Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, uninsured motor vehicle and speeding after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Guadarrama was released on bond with a court date of Nov. 23.

Florentino Cruz, 42, of the 1700 block of First Street, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no valid registration after police responded to a report of an auto accident in the 300 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.  Cruz was released on bond with a court date of Nov. 23.

Adam Little, 35, of the 500 block of East 92nd St., Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and no valid registration after being stopped by police in the 100 block of Edens Expressway, Highland Park. Little was released on bond with a court date of Nov. 9.

Burglary

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (cash removed from center console). Two other vehicles in the driveway were entered where nothing was taken. This incident occurred in the 1000 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park between 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2011 and 7:55 a.m. on Oct. 17.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (cash taken out of wallet) between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 in the 1600 block of Elmwood Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to residence (Vacant Residence - cast iron bath tubs and sinks along with other materials that could be scrapped) The incident occurred within the last 2 months in the 900 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (two gallon gas cans and magnetic business signs) between 5 p.m. on Oct. 15 and early morning hours on Oct. 16 in the 300 block of Temple Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (Cobra Radar unit) taken from the vehicle after the window was broken out in the 500 block of Vine Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (miscellaneous coins and pizza bag) taken from the vehicle after the window was broken out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (spare key) taken from the vehicle after the window was broken out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (two vehicles – two GPS units, a radar detector and hunting knife) taken from the vehicles after the windows were broken out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (Tom Tom GPS) taken from the vehicle after the window was broken out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (GPS and Dell Laptop) taken from the vehicle after the windows were broken out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (GPS and iPod Nano) taken from the vehicle after the windows were broken out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (stereo removed and GPS) taken from the vehicle after the window was broken out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of a burglary to motor vehicle (construction equipment) taken from the vehicles after the lock was pried out in the 600 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.
