Police Blotter: Stolen Engagement Ring

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Theft

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that numerous items of jewelry consisting of rings, bracelets and necklaces are missing from the home. No other items appeared to have removed and no signs of forced entry were noted. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Eastwood Avenue, Highland Park, Illinois.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that sometime on June 30, 2012, an iPhone 3G cell phone fell out of a pocket and was subsequently stolen. It is unknown exactly where the theft occurred.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that sometime on July 3, 2012, a set of golf clubs in a golf bag which contained a wedding and engagement ring set were accidentally left in a loaner vehicle. Upon pick up of the bag, the rings were found missing. It is unknown exactly when or where the rings were taken.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that sometime between April 30, 2012 and approximately July 1, 2012 a Cartier watch, diamond and pearl Ring and a yellow gold ring with two diamonds in it are missing from the residence. The incident occurred in the 2000 block of Hidden Ridge Lane, Highland Park, Illinois.

Police are investigating a report of a theft. It was reported that a purse was taken from containing car and house keys, drivers license, credit cards, military ID and cell phone. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Fredricksons Place, Highland Park, Illinois.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that several pieces of jewelry are missing from the residence sometime between the end of March until the end of April.  No forced entry seen. The incident occurred in the 1900 block of Watercress Way, Highland Park, Illinois.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that unknown person stole cash and and a debit card from a locked locker on June 08, 2012 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Unauthorized activity has been found on the debit card. The incident occurred in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park, Illinois.

Disorderly conduct/criminal damage to vehicle

Pedro Mendez-Sanchez, 29, of the 800 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park, Illinois, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal damage to vehicle after police responded to a report of a fight between 2 individuals in the 800 block of Deerfield Road, Highland Park. Mendez-Sanchez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of July 25, 2012 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois. 

Unlawful failure to report as a sex offender

Edgar Melchor, 31, of the 1900 block of Second Street, Highland Park was arrested on July 5, 2012 and charged with unlawful failure to report as a sex offender after police conducted a check of Melchor’s reported address on July 3, 2012 and found Melchor did not live there. Melchor was transported to bond court at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois pending court date. 

Driving while license revoked

Scott Stoliar, 51, of the 1700 block of First Street, Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving while license revoked, no drivers license on person, and failure to stop for stop sign after being stopped by police near the intersection of Laurel Avenue and Second Street, Highland Park. Stoliar was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of July 25, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Waukegan, Illinois. 

Charles Jones, II, 27, of the 2800 block of Washington Street, Waukegan, Illinois, was arrested and charged with driving while license revoked and speeding after being stopped by police in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Jones was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 22, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Waukegan, Illinois. 

Driving under the influence

Julian Zavala, 34, of the 4800 block of Warner Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage after being stopped by police who responded to the report of a driving complaint in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Zavala was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 8, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

William Eason, 44, of the 8600 block of N. Skokie Blvd., Skokie, Illinois, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, speeding forty miles over the limit, following too close and resisting arrest after being stopped by police in the 1900 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Eason was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 3, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Hecter Sanchez, 32, of the 900 block of Buccaneer Drive, Glenview, Illinois, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage after being stopped by police in the 0-100 block of the Edens Expressway, Highland Park. Sanchez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 24, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Guadalupe Castro, 51, of the 200 block of  Llewellyn Avenue, Highwood, Illinois, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license revoked and failure to yield right of way after being stopped by police in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Castro was released on a cash bond with a court date of August 10, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Michael Harris, 35, of the 1400 Midland Court, Joliet, Illinois, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, fail to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving while license suspended and attempt unlawful possession of a controlled substance after police were called to the 0-100 block of Central Avenue, Highland Park for a report of a vehicle accident where the subject had struck a parked car. Harris was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 3, 2012 at 18 North County Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a report of a criminal damage to property. It was reported sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unknown subject (s) gained entry into the water park and threw several lounge chairs and two life guard stations into the pool. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Fredricksons Place, Highland Park, Illinois.

Attempt to elude police

Tam Le, 27, of the 8200 block of Monique Way, Cypress, California, was arrested and charged with speeding and attempt to elude police after being stopped by police near the intersection of Chantilly Blvd. and Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. Le was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of August 22, 2012 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Waukegan, Illinois.

Motor vehicle theft

Police are investigating a report of a motor vehicle yheft. It was reported that a White Ford F150 with a trailer was stolen from a storage yard in the 2600 block of Waukegan Avenue, Highland Park. The vehicle was later located in Kenosha, Wisconsin with the ignition and locks punched out along with several landscaping tools missing from the damaged trailer.
