Police Blotter: Stolen Scrap Metal

Teen caught consuming alcohol is among items in Wednesday's police report.

The following items are taken from the Highland Park Police Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Theft

Robert S. Gifford, 27, of the 300 block of Green Bay Road in Highwood, was arrested and charged with theft by deception for an incident reported Feb 10. He posted bond and has a court hearing on May 4.

Police are investigating the theft of scrap metal between 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 6 a.m. on Feb. 25 in the 1200 block of Fredricksons Place in Highland Park.

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to property between 10 p.m. Feb. 22 and 10 a.m. Feb. 23 in the 1700 block of Lily Court in Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to a vehicle's tires in the 1800 block of St. Johns Avenue in Highland Park.

Driving while license revoked

Carlos F. Mendez-Molina, 33, of the 2000 block of Kingston Road in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving while having his license revoked and no tail light. Police stopped his vehicle in the 1400 block of Deerfield Road in Highland Park.  Mendez-Molina was released on a bond, and has a court hearing on April 13.

Allison D. Dye, 19, of the 200 block of North Metropolitan Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device. Police stopped her vehcile in the 3300 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. She was released on bond, and has a court date of April 27.

Driving under the influence

Diana J. Guerrero, 25, of the 2000 block of South Ashland Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and a traffic violation after police pulled over her vehicle in the 500 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. She was released on a bond, and has a court date of March 18.

Amanda M. Smith, 23, of the 3000 block of 27th Street in Zion, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license and driving without headlights after police stopped her vehicle at Glenview and Midlothian avenues in Highland Park. She was released on bond, and has a court date of April 1.

Larry Hernerson Jr., 32, of the 3100 block of Montana Avenue in Great Lakes, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after police stopped him in the 2500 block of Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park. He was released on a bond, and has a court date of April 1.

Battery

Police are investigating a reported battery of a person in the 500 block of Onwentsia Avenue in Highland Park.

Consumption of alcohol by teen

Nicholas K. Luttrell, 18, of the 2400 block of Green Bay Road in Highland Park, was issued an administrative hearing ticket over the consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police cited him in the 800 block of Marion Avenue in Highland Park. He was given an hearing date of April 21.
