Two Cars Burgled in Highland Park

July 22: Police are investigating a report of a residential burglary. It was reported that a residence was entered via an unlocked side door and a brown leather jewelry box was taken. The incident occurred in the 1400 block of Waverly Road, Highland Park.

Theft

July 24: Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that a grey Hansa brand stuffed elephant was stolen from the sidewalk in the 600 block of Central Avenue sometime on July 23, 2013.

July 24: Police are investigating a report of a theft. It was reported that a subject in a red pick-up truck pumped $30 of fuel then left without payment at a business in the 1400 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. 

July 28: Police are investigating a report of a theft. It was reported that an iphone was taken by an unknown person from an unattended gym bag located in the basketball gym at a business in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. 

July 28: Police are investigating a report of a theft. It was reported that an iphone was taken by an unknown person from underneath a chair in the basketball gym at a business in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park. 

July 29: Police are investigating a report of a theft. It was reported that an unknown person stole a $10.00 bill from the tip jar located at the Central Train Station, 1700 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park.

Burglary from motor vehicle

July 25: Police are investigating a burglary to a motor vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Sunset Road, Highland Park. A Louis Vuitton purse was taken after the unlocked vehicle was left unattended for approximately 10 minutes with the windows partially rolled down.

July 27: Police are investigating a burglary to a motor vehicle parked in the 400 block of Park Avenue, Highland Park. It was reported that unknown person(s) entered an unlocked Ford Escape sometime between 4:00pm and 7:30am. A GPS, car charger, social security card and miscellaneous gift cards were taken. 

Criminal damage to property

July 26: Police are investigating a delayed report of criminal damage to property. Sometime after 5:00pm on 07/24/13 unknown person(s) spray painted graffiti in three places. Again overnight on 07/25/13 two more paintings were discovered. The painting appeared to be of a foreign script with miscellaneous symbols in gold spray paint. The incident occurred in the 2100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.

July 26: Police are investigating a delayed report of criminal damage to property. It was reported graffiti was located under the train bridge at Laurel Avenue and St. Johns Avenue and a "666" was painted on the cement statue at Hazel Avenue and St. Johns Avenue.

July 27: While police were investigating graffiti case 13-09163, detectives found similar graffiti behind Greenberg Radiology in the 1300 block of Park Avenue West, Highland Park.  Similar paint was used (gold paint).
