Two Highland Park Homes Broken Into in One Week

The following arrest information was supplied by the Highland Park police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Criminal damage to property

Police are investigating a delayed report of a commercial burglary. It was reported that over the weekend graffiti in white spray paint was placed on the exterior wall on the south side of a building located in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of a criminal damage to property. It was reported that a window on the side of a residence under construction was broken in an attempt to gain entry sometime between 4 p.m. on Jan. 31 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 1. No missing items were reported and no entry was made to the residence. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of Saxony Drive, Highland Park.

Theft under $500

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that an Apple iPhone was taken between 4:30 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. on Jan. 31 from a coat which was left unsecured at a business located in the 500 block of Laurel Avenue, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that a black Lacoste jacket with a black Lacoste logo, (2) red and gray T-shirts, (1) Burberry style scarf and car keys were stolen from a locked locker at a business in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. 

Police are investigating a delayed report of a theft. It was reported that a piece of artwork that was hung as part of a temporary display was stolen from a business in the 400 block of Laurel Avenue sometime between Wednesday Jan. 30 at 5 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 31 at 9 a.m. 

Residential burglary

Police are investigating a report of a residential burglary. It was reported that unknown person(s) smashed open a rear door to a residence in the 100 block of Bloom Street sometime between 10 a.m. and 7:55 p.m. on Feb. 1.  Costume jewelry was reportedly taken.

Police are investigating a report of a residential burglary. It was reported sometime between 6:30pm and 10:50pm a residence was entered through a rear sliding door (no pry) and the doggie door was removed.  The residence was tossed. Multiple items of jewelry were taken. The incident occurred in the 700 block of Judson Avenue, Highland Park. 

Driving under the influence

Andrew Edmonds, 42, of the 13000 W. Beach Road, Wadsworth was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, uninsured motor vehicle and speeding after being stopped by police in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.  Edmonds was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of March 16, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois. 

Judith Bustos-Melendez, 31, of the 800 block of Horseshoe Drive, Joliet was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after police responded to a driving complaint in the 400 block of the Edens Expressway, Highland Park.  Bustos-Melendez was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of February 22, 2013 at 18 N. County Street, Waukegan, Illinois. 

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Alex Curry, 18, of the 1800 block of Cavell Avenue, Highland Park was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to use a turn signal after being stopped by police in the 1700 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park.  Curry was released on a personal recognizance bond with a court date of March 6, 2013 at 301 Greenleaf Street, Park City, Illinois.
