Highland Park 'Staircase to Beach' Loses Steam

The City of Highland Park is interested in exploring private partnerships to afford the mounting estimates of building a staircase to the beach for pedestrians, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The City of Highland Park has backed away from a previous talk of building a staircase to the beach at one of two locations since a recent city council meeting, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The proposed locations would either have been at the end of Central Avenue, or near the north end of Central Park, the article states, but the estimated costs for both have skyrocketed. Officials are now considering entering into private partnerships to afford the project.
