Highwood Mayor Pleads Guilty to DUI

Charlie Pecaro receives one year court supervision.

pleaded guilty to drunk-driving charges last Friday and will receive one year of court supervision, a 30-day suspension of his driver's license and a fine, according to the Highland Park News.

Pecaro, 42, was stopped by police at 2:34 a.m. on Sept. 4 near the intersection of Half Day Road and Western in Highland Park, about a half mile from his home on the first block of Exmoor Court in Highwood, according to the Highland Park Police Department's arrest report.

The Highwood mayor was charged with having blood alcohol content over the state's .08 limit as well as operating a vehicle with no head/tail lights and following too closely.

If Pecaro adheres to the judges conditions, the DUI conviction will be expunged from his record, reports the Highland Park News.

"This has been an extremely humbling experience for me and my family," Pecaro said in a statement issued Friday. "I take full responsibility for my actions and I want to thank our family, friends and community for all their support."
