Holiday Concerts To Kick Off City Council Meetings

The Dec. 3 and 17 Park Ridge city council meetings will get a musical lead-in, as bands play before the start.

Who said government can't be fun?

Park Ridge city council meetings may usually deal with prosaic matters like taxes and garbage pickup, but they're getting jazzed up for the holiday season.

At 6:30 p.m., prior to the start of the 7 p.m. City Council meetings on Dec. 3 and 17 at City Hall, 505 S. Butler, Park Ridge, local school bands will play holiday music.

The Maine East Jazz Band will provide 30 minutes of musical cheer on Dec. 3 and the Lincoln Middle School Jazz Band will do likewise on Dec. 17.

Light refreshments will be served, and meeting attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable canned food item to benefit the Maine Township Food pantry.

I hope they discuss the eye sore building on the Northwest corner of Washington & Touhy. Speeders on North Prospect between Touhy and Oakton that never obey the 25MPH limit and never get ticketed, and not cramming 40 homes into the Youth Campus property. We do not need 40+ homes there causing more congestion and traffic on Prospect.
