Lake Cook Road Nears Completion

All lanes now open during non work hours.

With the Lake Cook Road construction project approximately 92 percent complete, all lanes are already open in all directions when building crews are not on the job, according to Project Manager John Guccione.

Construction crews are expected to be on the job from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday when there will be lane closures to enable work to be done, according to Guccione. “That will start bringing people back,” he said.

“Remaining daytime operations include minimal concrete work, landscape median plantings and seed placement within the 2013 project limits, as well between Pfingsten (Road) and Pine Street,” Guccione said.

Permanent traffic signals are expected to be delivered this week with the work complete in the next five to 10 days.

Guccione expects all work to be complete by Sept. 26, a month ahead of the projected finishing date. That will qualify the contractor for a maximum early completion bonus. The only exception to the Sept. 26 date will be retaining wall work. “That’s off the roadway,” he said.
