Mayor Highlights City's Achievements in Final State of the City

Mike Belsky praised the city's economic development in his last public address as mayor.

praised Highland Park's economic development, infrastructure and city staff during his hourlong State of the City address at the on March 10.

He also reflected humorously on his two-term career as the city's mayor, which will end soon after the April 5 election, when either councilwoman or  takes his place.

"When I was in high school, I just didn't imagine being a mayor," Belsky said. He told a story about bringing home his first college report card, which was "all F's and a C-plus."

"My dad said, 'What's the deal with this?' and I said, 'I think I focused on the one class a little too much.'"
