Park District to Host Community Input Session

The information below comes from the Park District of Highland Park.

Residents of Highland Park are invited to attend a Community Input Session on July 25 from 7-9pm at West Ridge Center, 636 Ridge Road, Highland Park.
The open house will be hosted by the Lakota Group, a Chicago-based planning firm contracted to develop GreenPrint 2024: A Community Vision for the Park District of Highland Park. The Lakota Group will present the consultant team’s initial analysis of the Park District developed during the first phase of the project.

Since the launch of the GreenPrint 2024 planning process, the Lakota Team has conducted stakeholder interviews, collected email correspondence, met with community leaders, and connected with residents via social media and the website www.plan4pdhp.com. Additionally, the Team has been conducting assessments and analysis of the facilities and programming of the Park District.  The results of their findings will be shared with the public during the July 25 input session followed by resident comment, questions, review, and refinement.
A synopsis of the “State of the Park District” will establish the foundation for the upcoming visioning phase of the project.

“Although we will be moving on to visioning in the fall, the community engagement phase is ongoing,” stated Lakota Group President Scott Freres during his update to the Park Board June 25. “As findings and opinions are shared, we typically hear more from residents, specifically on key topics.”

GreenPrint 2024 strives to maximize community input and pair it with the knowledge and experience of the Park District staff, as well as the consultant team’s resources and expertise to develop a roadmap for the Park District’s future projects and programs.

Residents are encouraged to share suggestions and comments by emailing plan4pdhp@pdhp.org, visiting Facebook at plan4pdhp, Twitter @plan4pdhp, and through the website, www.plan4pdhp.com.

Questions on the master planning project can be directed to Mary Gardocki, Associate Project Manager, 847.579.4081 or mgardocki@pdhp.org.
