Report: State Boards Cost Illinois Taxpayers Millions

A Daily Herald report outlines the costs of Illinois' 23 state boards and commissions.

Illinois' 23 state boards and commissions cost taxpayers $6.9 million a year, the Daily Herald reported.

The money goes to pay the salaries and expenses of the 167 state appointees, some of whom earn more than six figures, the newspaper reported. The boards oversee many activities including gambling, labor relations and, soon, concealed carry weapon permit appeals.
