State Representative for the 58th district, Scott Drury (D-Highwood) is the chief sponsor of HB4320, also known as the Revenge Porn Bill, which was passed by the Illinois House last week (110-2) and now moves on to the Illinois Senate.

Revenge porn is described as, "the distribution of sexually explicit videos or photos without a person's consent and has become a topic of nationwide interest as more and more people (mostly women) are victimized by it," according to a press release from Drury's office.

If the bill is passed by the Illinois Senate, it would make revenge porn a Class 3 felony.

"This law protects potential victims and allows law enforcement to punish those who engage in this hateful conduct," Drury stated in the release.

The Illinois Senate previously passed a bill addressing revenge porn, but Drury's office says it was not as comprehensive as his bill, which bans all methods of distribution, and not only those on the internet.

The 58th district includes portions of Bannockburn, Deerfield, Glencoe, Highland Park, Highwood, Knollwood, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Northbrook North Chicago and Riverwoods.

David: I just thought a thread without a gun comment wasn't allowed here, so I needed to make it "legal." Unfortunately, this is a needed law. With the technology today, it can be more than embarrassing, it can cost people their jobs, reputation and more. Even if something is removed from a website, it could be proliferated to the extent that it couldn't be controlled. And people will believe almost anything, in spite of the facts.

Dan/Walter> I couldn't agree more. With his opinion regarding this matter (not to mention the gun issue), I am happy DG didn't get elected to the 113 school board.

Pedro ...you and your liberal friends always have to worry about embarrassing photos and lurid videos of you because you have no morals! Fool!

Deerfield resident is right. GOP Mark Foley who molested interns and GOP Larry Craig who had man on man sex in an airport bathroom didn't take pictures. When Bill OReilly paid off the victim/employee of his for sexual harassment using burritos and lurid phone calls didn't take video. Billo paid millions to his victim to end any court getting involved like Michael Jackson did so often. No court means the details are hidden.

Rep. Scott Drury, The Anti-Second Amendment, Anti-Conceal Carry, politician from Highwood... where his office is the only place that has a Gun Free Zone sign Posted in the entire downtown. This guy has done NOTHING to help to out of control budget issues in this state and is more concerned about some old folks playing video Poker, than he is about this state ending up like Detroit.
