City Officials to Tour Shuttered Highland Park Theater, Vote on Funding
Highland Park officials will visit the theater on Monday and vote on whether more funds will be allotted for emergency maintenance costs, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Highland Park city officials plan to visit the shuttered Highland Park theater Monday night and will then vote on whether $15,000 in emergency maintenance costs are warranted, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Neighboring businesses have been negatively affected since the closure in May of 2012. The theater was closed due to fire safety violations and other safety issues.
The Alcyon Foundation received unanimous approval after the closing to conduct a feasibility study in hopes of redeveloping the property, but that fell through at the start of 2014.
The city of Highland Park purchased the theater for $2.1 million in 2009, the article states.
