What Are Readers Saying About Rosewood Beach?

It's been a busy week on the Rosewood Beach redesign front. Here's what you had to say about the proposal.

Now that the Park District Board of Commissioners has decided , there's more time for Highland Park residents to chime in with their thoughts on the proposal.

Over the past week, Patch readers have commented on Rosewood Beach articles, sticking primarily to the controversial interpretive center.

"Less is more," writes Jeanne Vella, arguing for a more modest redesign than the one the task force has come up with. "A sturdy changing house and restroom is all that's needed."

Recent graduate disagrees.

"The biggest complaint that I personally hear about Rosewood is that there is no good place to walk or seek shelter," Robertson writes. "The boardwalk, bathroom facility and interpretive center will change that, and make Rosewood a better place for all."

thinks bathrooms and a concession stand would be a good fit for Rosewood, but thinks the interpretive center is unnecessary.

"We don't need an interpretive center, and we certainly don't need one on Rosewood Beach," he writes.

, another Patch reader and commenter, believes otherwise.

"I think the interpretive center fits the location and I believe this structure will be well used," he writes.

Another member of the less-is-more camp, commented on Patch advocating only for public restrooms on the beach.

"Keep Rosewood Beach as it is and add toilet and shower facilities," he writes.

Echoing Daniel Burnham, another reader believes the Rosewood Beach proposal should be approved and sprung into action without delay.

"The proposed plan has sufficient merit to allow a favorable vote now, without more delay," writes Anthony Bilotti. "Make no small plans."
