Ravinia Presents Two Free Community Concerts

The not-for-profit Ravinia Festival connects music to thousands of families around Chicago through multi-tiered education programs under the umbrella REACH*TEACH*PLAY.

The not-for-profit Ravinia Festival connects music to thousands of families around Chicago through multi-tiered education programs under the umbrella REACH*TEACH*PLAY including a community conservatory in Lawndale, in-school training of teachers and students, Chicago-wide music appreciation program One Score, One Chicago, and the RISE (Ravinia Immersion in Symphonic Education) Orchestra, a student-training orchestra comprising kids 8 to 12 years old.

Through these programs Ravinia will present two community performances of the multicultural, all-female ensemble The Mariachi Divas, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th St. in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, and at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 29, at and in collaboration with Most Blessed Trinity Parish, 450 Keller Ave. in Waukegan. The July 28 performance is exclusively for members of the museum, but the July 29 performance is free and open to the public.

The Mariachi Divas will also take part in Ravinia’s Kraft Great Kids Concert series with a show at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, at the festival. Tickets for this concert are $10 for reserved and $5 for lawn and are available for purchase at Ravinia.org or by calling the Ravinia Box Office at 847-266-5100.
