The Renewal Project

I just celebrated my 45th birthday. I love my birthday. Always have. It's funny how 45, an odd number, seems older than even numbers. And it's interesting how a birthday becomes an opportunity for introspection and an overall life review. My upcoming birthday along with approaching Spring, prompted a discussion with my husband a month ago about what was working and not working in different areas in our life. I then said, "Wouldn't it be cool if we organized our entire life? What that would look like?"

And there began a process of reviewing our life, category by category, and ultimately calling it The Renewal Project. We wanted this project to be not only effective and useful but motivating and fun (which, by the way, we noticed was highly lacking!) We approached this process as I would with a client's physical space:

VISION:

Visualize - What would our life look and feel like

Implement a plan - How would we do this?

Sort - What aspects of our life did we need to de-clutter, toss or delegate?

Identify a home - Where in time (schedule) would we devote this task or activity?

Obtain storage - How much time per day/month/year would we devote to this?

Note progress - Weekly or monthly get togethers to assess our progress

We began our Renewal Project with a brainstorming session where we listed all the categories of our lives together; children, home, work, health, personal goals, spirituality, finance, and marriage. We each, separately, listed all the items, under our own column, that were working and those that were not. After sharing our individual lists and comparing notes, we decided to meet once a week to review our action plans for each area. What we realized was how our commitment and intention had an immediate effect on our sense of calm. We had the unique opportunity to de-clutter our lives in a way that was more powerful than waiting for the stars to align and 'gift' us what we needed; a simpler schedule, a calmer way of being, a home we loved and cared for, financial abundance, renewed intimacy with each other and our children, and a healthier and more vibrant lifestyle. It wasn't that we were broken. We simply wanted to go to that next level.

If you're ready for the next level, this may be exactly what you need. This project is perfect whether you're single or sharing with a friend or partner. It can be customized to be uniquely you. And most important it will guide you to continue living more authentically.
