City Appoints 18 HPHS Students to Commissions

High school juniors will get firsthand look at municipal government.

In a move to expose young people to local government, 18 Highland Park High School students were appointed to different City Commissions Monday at the City Council meeting at City Hall.

The new student commissioners are Micaela Wexler and Jacob Zionts, Business and Economic Development Commission; Chase Nathan, Cultural Arts Commission; Sam Dotson, Design Review Commission; Alison Fraerman and Bianca Oviedo, Cultural Arts Commission and Jorge Luis Castellanos, Housing Commission.

Others are Juliana Steves and Aidan Ezgur, Human Relations Commission; Mackenzie Ellis and Castellanos, Human Services Task Force; Anna Fox, Library Board; Daniella Lewittes, Natural Resources Commission and Jack Mullinkosson, Plan Commission.

The rest are Rachel Ross, Ravinia Community Relations; Ellis, Sister Cities Foundation; Sheridan Clayborne, Transportation Commission and Jacob Meister, Zoning Board of Appeals.

The program is in its third year.
