Cold, Heat Extend District 112 School Year

Similar action is not necessary for Highland Park High School.

The bitter cold earlier this month coupled with the extreme heat of August has extended the school year for North Shore School District 112 while Highland Park High School did not have to adjust its calendar.

The District did not build enough day into its calendar to compensate for extreme hear in August and sub zero temperatures Jan. 6 and 7, according to an email from the District.

Kindergarteners at Oak Terrace and Green Bay Road Preschool will finish the year June 6 while all other kindergartners will complete the term June 9. The rest of the Oak Terrace students will complete the year June 10 while all other elementary and middle schoolers end the semester June 11. Eighth-grade promotion will still be June 2.
