Community Gives District 112 High Marks

Residents of North Shore School District 112 were asked to complete a survey Feb. 19-March 15. The results are in.

More than 1,000 District 112 parents and more than 300 other community members responded to the district's survey covering topics related to the quality of its education, its facilities, leadership, finances and more.

Four out of five parents and three out of four community members gave the schools an A or B according to the survey, though the quality of district facilities did not rate as well, receiving an A or B by just 55 percent of participants. In open-ended responses, many participants spoke of the district’s aging facilities being in need of updates and repairs.

The survey also revealed overall agreement (94 percent) that strong schools are important, with 87 percent of respondents indicating schools have an impact on property values. And 77 percent said indicated they felt increased funding to ensure quality education was important.
