District 112 Closes Most Schools Early Tuesday

Warm weather will send students home early everywhere except Oak Terrace and Green Bay Road Schools.

Warm and humid weather today has prompted officials of North Shore School District 112 to send students home early today at all schools except Oak Terrace and Green Bay Road Schools, which are air conditioned.

All three middle schools—Edgewood, Elm Place and Northwood—will end the day at 12:25 p.m., according to the District website. Sherwood Elementary School will close at 12:56 p.m. while Braeside, Indian Trail, Lincoln, Ravinia, Wayne Thomas will follow suit at 1 p.m. Red Oak will send children home at 1:04 p.m.

No decision has been made about Wednesday’s schedule. “We are looking at the weather forecast and will make a decision at some time today,” Communication Director Andi Rosen said.

During the morning hours, faculty and administrators will keep a close eye on student safety. “All our principals have reviewed our procedures with staff,” Rosen said. There will be no strenuous physical activity.
