Early Dismissal Friday at Many Highland Park Schools

The expected high heat is ending school early at D112 schools that aren't air conditioned.

Because of the high heat expected Friday, most Highland Park schools in District 112 will have an early dismissal.

Here is the press release from the district:

Because the National Weather Service is forecasting extreme heat tomorrow with a heat index in the danger zone, all schools except Oak Terrace Elementary School and the Green Bay Early Childhood Center will follow an early release schedule tomorrow, Friday, August 30.  Because Oak Terrace and Green Bay are air-conditioned, their schedule will remain the same.

Below are release times/schedule changes:

Middle schools:  End time 12:25 p.m.

All elementary schools except Sherwood and Red Oak:  1 p.m.

Sherwood: 12:56 p.m.

Red Oak:  1:04 p.m.

AM Kindergarten:  Regular time

PM Kindergarten: Cancelled

All school-sponsored after-school activities are also cancelled Friday.  The ASAP programs at Indian Trail and Oak Terrace will run as scheduled.   The Highland Park Firehouse will run its regular after-school programming for middle school students. and provide bussing for student who are registered. Students who are not registered may attend but must provide their own transportation.  Parents of middle school students may call the Firehouse at 847-433-3090 for more information.
