Betsy Soifer Sells Girl Scout Cookies in Her Own Special Way

Betsy Soifer, a second grade student at Ravinia Elementary School and part of the Educational Life Skills Program (ELS), a special education program, has been practicing selling Girl Scout Cookies with adapted materials – along with helpfrom Ravinia staff and her fellow classmates.

Betsy is non-verbal and uses a special computer to help her communicate. Selling cookies face-to-face, rather than over the phone or via the internet, is the best way for Betsy to experience this annual girl scout tradition with the other girls in her Brownie troop.

Betsy will be selling Girl Scout Cookies, with a few of her Brownie friends at Love’s Yogurt in Highland Park (585 Elm Place) on Sunday, January 29th from 2:00-4:00 pm. Danny Andelkovic, franchisee of the Highland Park Love’s, has been generous enough to give Betsy this opportunity to practice her communication skills and interact with the community in a meaningful way.
