Readers are always looking for their next favorite book, but when they pick up Your Amazing Novel, you have only five pages or so to get them hooked on your story. In this workshop, we’ll pay close attention to the first five pages, the most crucial real estate when it comes to getting readers into your novel. Using writing prompts and work brought from home, we’ll create and workshop strong novel openings, revising them until the first five pages soar and your reader is ready and willing to go along for the rest of the ride.

This class is for beginning to intermediate writers, or anyone who wants a little prod to get started on that next project. Be prepared to write AND read in this class, from examples of great novel openings to revision exercises and first-page prompts that will challenge you to keep readers—and editors and agents—along for the ride. By the end of the course, you will have a strong foundation for building, or revising, the rest of your novel.
