Giants Cruise Past Niles West Wolves

A potent offense catapults Highland Park to its first victory of the season.

Recap: The came out firing on Friday, attacking the from the get go, drawing up onside kicks and play action passes that kept the Wolves on their heels all night.  scored a total of 6 touchdowns, racking up 36 of the team’s 47 points.

Star of the Game: This has to got to Andrew Sledd who tallied up six total touchdowns, including three rushing, one receiving and two kickoff returns. He combined for over 300 all-purpose yards, blasting out a big chunk of that on his 91 and 90-yard kick returns.

Honorable Mention: Enough can’t be said about the Highland Park defense.  After they , the Giants defense came out and played far more aggressively. They were able to stop the run by plugging up the holes, jammed the middle of the field with man coverage and cause three total turnovers (two fumbles, one interception). What’s more impressive is that the Giants defense allowed 0 points to the Wolves’ offense (the 14 points in question coming on 1 KO return and 1 punt return).

Quote of the night: When asked to characterize RB Andrew Sledd’s play, Head Coach quipped: “I just wish I could buy a ticket to watch him play.  He’s one heck of an athlete.”

What’s next: The Giants are at home next week where they’ll take on a struggling Maine West High School (0-4), who have combined for only 13 points in their first four games.
