Highland Park Makes ‘Most Challenging High School’ List

HPHS ranked as the 19th most challenging in Illinois, putting it ahead of most North Shore schools.

Highland Park High School ranked 19 on a Washington Post list of the state’s most challenging high schools. Nationally it is ranked 736. Fewer than 10 percent of high schools nationally made the list.

Although that’s somewhat lower than it has ranked on the list in years past, it is ahead of all other North Shore high schools except for Evanston Township High School, which ranked No. 17. Deerfield High School was ranked No. 35.

The ranking uses the number of college-level tests given at the school divided by the number of graduates.
