“Stuntz of the Living Dead,” the annual student stunts musical put on entirely by Highland Park High School students, displayed nearly every talent of showmanship during the show’s three-day run ending Saturday.
Not only did the students do all the writing, singing, acting, dancing, producing and directing, but they handled the lighting, sound design and wrote two of the songs, according to faculty advisor Tim Conway.
Lizzie Brathwaite and Hannah Liebson each wrote a song and got help with the lyrics and arrangements from Josh Hoffman, Martin Gold and Daniel Whitworth.
Liebson did not confine her participation to songwriting. She and Ben Miller were the show’s lead writers heading a team of 10. She also teamed with Kaya Monsen to choose the music she and Brathwaite did not write. Conway credits a team effort with the success.
“This group of seniors is unique in that they are all friends and are genuinely happy for each other's successes,” Conway said. “There have been no ego issues; they understand the importance of being an ensemble. It is rare that an entire class gets this…usually there are a few ‘prima donnas.’"
