Hundreds Head to HPHS for Focus on the Arts Tickets

Tickets to dance night and opening night were given away Saturday at Highland Park High School.

About 200 people lined up in on Saturday afternoon to get tickets to two of hottest events: opening night and dance night.

Students, parents and grandparents started lining up early on Saturday to make sure they got tickets to the two main draws of Focus, a week of workshops and performances highlighting the arts.

"It's a really nice opportunity that we can take advantage of," said Highland Park resident Great Rothschild.

This year's program includes performances by Hubbard Street 2 Dance Company, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, world renowned slam poets of The Spoken Word Kevin Coval and Idris Goodwin, sportscaster Mark Giangreco, saxophonist and The Chicago Tribune’s Jazz Album of the Year winner Greg Ward  and The Time Traveler's Wife author Audrey Niffenegger.
