New Principal Hired in District 112

Highland Park resident Chelsey Maxwell will begin her new position of principal of the Green Bay Early Childhood Center in July.

The North Shore District 112 Board of Education approved the appointment of Highland Park resident Chelsey Maxwell as the new principal of Green Bay Early Childhood Center effective July 1.

Maxwell will replace outgoing Principal Nita Goodman, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Maxwell currently serves as the Early Childhood Principal in Madison Skokie District 69, where she worked since 2008. She served for three years as the district’s Student Support Coordinator prior to becoming Early Childhood Principal in 2011.

Prior to that, Maxwell worked for five years as a teacher and two years as a Special Education Program Consultant at Washoe County School District in Reno, Nevada.

"Ms. Maxwell brings to the position an extensive knowledge of special education and early childhood education," said District 112 Superintendent Dr. David L. Behlow. "Her energy and enthusiasm will make a difference in the lives of our children and staff."

Green Bay Early Childhood Center serves approximately 220 preschool students between the ages of 3 and 5. It offers half-day preschool programs for special needs students and blended classroom instruction for students with special needs and their typically developing peers. It also provides several options of full-day programs for students with a range of disabilities.

When reading my story above you probably are wondering why I didn't use customary paragraphs inRead More composing this article. The fact is I did! However, those AOL/Patch software designers who recently put this new format together didn't allow for paragraphs, boldfacing and some other essential typographical aids that make stories more readable. I have no idea why. Hopefully this oversight will soon be corrected. Ed Collins, Contributor

Ed, I completely agree with your format comment - eliminating paragraphs and other aids makesRead More articles much less readable. Jacob, why the change? It isn't like you have to spend more money on printing pages. Please address.
