Second District 112 Teacher Resigns in Light of Involuntary Transfer

More public criticism for North Shore District 112 as another teacher quits.

Lincoln Elementary School teacher Dana Gillis is the second teacher to quit as a result of being notified she would be transfered to another school in the fall, reported the Chicago Tribune.

Gillis, who taught fourth-grade for six years, read a resignation letter at Tuesday's meeting of the North Shore District 112 school board meeting that accused administrators of attacking her honesty and integrity, according to the Tribune.

There are about 16 transfers scheduled for the 2013-14 school year, according to  information on the district's website. Transfers can be done voluntarily or involuntarily and is also used to align staff assignments with building needs.

Of the four Lincoln teachers transfered, one requested it, according to the district. The other three did not. Last month, transfered Lincoln teacher Ellie Rubenstein quit via a YouTube video that criticized administrators. The video has been viewed by more than 589,000 people.
