Foresters' Football Team Gives Back to Community

Practice began for the Lake Forest College Football team Friday but the Foresters are off the field today.

They can be found at Croya, Boys and Girls Clubs in North Chicago and other places in Lake County giving back to the community as part of a service day, according to Coach Jim Cantazaro.

After two days on the gridiron, they spent Sunday and Monday getting to know the community and serving it. With more than half the team coming to Lake Forest from outside Illinois, Cantazaro wants them to know the area.

Sunday was introductory fun. The players had a Twitter scavenger hunt. “We had them all over Lake County,” Cantazaro said. “They were finding restaurants in Highland Park.”

For the Foresters’ second day off the practice field, they were sent throughout the area to perform community service for their new neighbors. “They are immersing themselves into their new community helping out,” Cantazaro said.
