City Kicks Off Holiday Season Saturday

Marching band, choir, and scavenger hunt lead up to Santa Claus's arrival and turning on the lights

Holiday Lights Illuminate Saturday

Highland Park will officially begin the holiday season with a plethora of events starting at 3 p.m. Saturday and culminating with the arrival of Santa Claus at 4 p.m. and turning on the City’s holiday lights on at 4:35 p.m.

The festivities start with the Lake Forest Country Day School choir at 3 p.m. along with a scavenger hunt. The Highland Park High School marching band arrives at 4 p.m. along with Santa Claus. The tree lighting ceremony begins at 4:20 p.m. at Port Clinton Square.

Thanksgiving may be a week away and Black Friday a week and a day, but Highland Park’s merchants are already geared up for holiday shopping this weekend because Hanukkah starts at sundown Wednesday before anyone carves the turkey Thursday or hits the shops Friday. See what deals they are offering.

Indoor Art Fair Come to Highland Park

If you want something to remind you of warm summer days come to an indoor art fair from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Highland Park Country Club. It is put on by Amdur Productions, the same folks who put on the Port Clinton Art Festival in August.
