Highland Park’s Day of Service Set Monday

Highland Park will hold its fifth annual Day of Service in observance of the national holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Recreation Center of Highland Park.

Sponsored by the City’s Human Relations Commission and the Park District of Highland Park, there will be a host of activities including packaging toiletries for PADS, delivering food for the Moraine Township Food Pantry, creating valentine messages for American troops, filling book bags for distribution at the North Shore Health Center, quilting, making items for animals at pet shelters and much more.

There will be entertainment too. Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will talk to the group about his experiences with King and there will be a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers.

A full list of activities is available on the North Shore School District 112 website.
