Second Annual Pizza Bowl Set Sunday

Who make the best pizza in Deerfield and Highland Park?

That is a debate which will arose passions just like the annual football game between the Giants and Warriors for the Shields Trophy but with one big difference. Both schools win.

The winner will be determined in the second annual Pizza Bowl from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Highland Park High School and no matter which pizzeria is voted best in the two communities, students at both Deerfield and Highland Park High Schools will walk away on top.

Individuals can participate for $10 and families for $25. Each participant will get a ballot, taste pizza from each vendor and cast their vote. At the end of the evening, the votes will be counted and the winner will be known. All proceeds go to the District 113 Foundation.

Current participants include Dominos, Il Forno (Highland Park), Il Forno (Deerfield), Lou Malnati’s, NY Slices, and Viccino’s, according to a news release from Township High School District 113. Viccino’s won last year.

While sampling the pizza, the jazz groups from both schools will perform as well as Collage, Highland Park’s dance group.

In the past, the foundation has awarded more than $275,000 in grants for projects at the two schools.

Where is Piero's?!?

Well obviously this is in good fun for the school district, otherwise Domino's would not be in this and the majority of pizza joints wouldn't be absent. And what about Highwood? No Buffo's, no Nite N Gale (great thin pizza), no Little Caesar's. Finally both IL Forno's battling each other. I always felt the HP one was better. I also see Rosati's is going to be there (yuck). No Rosebud (Deerfield), no Piero's, no Italian Kitchen (Deerfield), no Judy's, etc. Anyway, I hope to go, I LOVE pizza!
