Carlos' Restaurant

In an appearance of the local TV show, "Check Please!", Oprah's favorite interior designer Nate Berkus once remarked that Carlos is "a wonderful restaurant, especially for a special occasion." If you ask Zagat, that remains to be true. In 2008, it was voted No. 1 in Chicago and one of the Top Ten restaurants in America.

Carlos' is indeed a destination, both literally and figuratively. While it bears a Highland Park address, it is actually located in Highwood, further north. It is also about 30 miles north of downtown Chicago. But there is a reason why discriminating diners go the extra mile to get a table here. In a 2006 review, Zagat praised Carlos' for its "very creative" French fare and its "fantastic wine list."

For sure, Carlos' is an upscale restaurant, but its service is also known to be at par with the price.

Another unique attraction at Carlos' is the film night. Every second and third Friday of the month, come for an intimate evening of delicious French fare and great cinema. Just make sure you have a reservation.

Carlos' is a labor of love of restaurateurs Carlos and Deborah Nieto, whose names are synonymous to elegance and good taste. In 2011, it will mark its three decades of food excellence and service in the Chicagoland. Carlos' is open only for dinner.
