<p>Highland Park, founded in 1925 as the Alcyon Theatre, remains independently owned. A destination for art film lovers, it has established a loyal audience that keeps its popcorn machine popping. Once a 1,000-plus seating movie house, it has been converted into four smaller theaters.</p> <p>While its amenities are dated, they are well-maintained. Don't expect reclining leather seats, but prepare to feel nostalgic about the whole experience.</p>
