The pulled pork is really tender and juicy, but doesn't have a very strong smoke flavor. The BBQ sauce (mild one) is on the sweeter side, which I like. I really wish they had some corn tortillas to make the redneck tacos since I can't have gluten and the hoe cakes used have wheat flour in them.

I live in Oak Forest, IL and this is the ONLY restaurant that I will drive this far to visit. The food is awesome, the staff is friendly and knows what they are doing, and the selection is unique. Every visit is worth the trip.

RUB has the juiciest BBQ I've ever tasted! Not only in the pork, beef but the chicken and smoked turkey breast! Everything is so good it's hard to make up my mind so I always get the sample platter so I don't have too. You never leave hungry! Not only is the food so delicious, but the service is fabulous! I like that the owner is there and he takes the time to talk to you and makes you feel welcomed. It's nice to have a restaurant who knows what real BBQ is! Leenie M

I drove 40 miles for his BBQ! My personal favorite is the burnt ends! Can't get enough of them. I think I have tried everything on the menu and will keep going back for more.

Best barbecue in all of Chicagoland. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork and those
infamous burnt ends are worth the drive up north anytime for lunch or
dinner. The sides are really good as well expecially the smoked baked
beans and the mac & cheese. Great atmosphere, the portions are generous and always leave there full with a dessert to go.
Been following Jeff's BBQ for years now. Like it enough to drive from Bensenville to Highland Park to get it. Keep up the great work!
The Guy who runs this joint knows his stuff, I'm hard to please, but this place is tops for Barbqu'e. the pulled pork & Chicken is great! Rib's are top flight & with a super clean open kitchen! I had some Smoked Turkey there it was tops ! The sides are too good home made also , lots of good work going on here & I shall return.

I only wish Real Urban Barbecue was closer to my home, but it is worth the trip every time! I love that they carve your meat to order right in front of you, ensuring you get exactly the cut you're looking for. Everything is prepared right in front so you can see just how fresh and delicious it is. While I love the smoked turkey and pulled pork, I must admit I am a BBQ side lover. Mac & cheese, cranberry bread pudding, I could go on! Oh, and the gumbo special is really great- just enough kick and seasoning. I also can't resist a sweet tea in a mason jar. Go and see for yourself!
I've had a lot of BBQ in my life - some good, some bad, but I've never had anything as good as the Pulled Chicken Sandwich that I had at RUB this afternoon. Excellent portion size, very very tasty sides, and the service is excellent. Everyone at the restaurant is extremely friendly, and for my first visit - I was completely satisfied. I'll definitely be back - with many hungry friends and family...
This place is going to give the other BBQ joints in the area a real run for their money...

Unless you have never left Highland Park, this place is at best below average for a BBQ place.....even Carsons has better ribs.
