Democratic Congressional candidate Brad Schneider of Deerfield told more than 150 supporters and volunteers Saturday at the opening of his Northbrook campaign office how they will make a difference in one of the most hotly contested races in the country. “When you’re out there knocking on a door and someone expresses a concern to you you can assure them it will get back to the campaign,” Schneider said stressing the importance of grass roots campaigning. DCCC chair calls 10th District race top priority for party.
(Update at 1:25 p.m.) Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) disagreed with statements by Democratic challenger Brad Schneider of Deerfield today that he has voted against woman’s health issues. “I am pro choice,” Dold said. “It’s long standing policy in Washington for 30 years the United States does not provide funding for abortions. President (Barack) Obama has done this in his executive orders.” Dold was referring to a vote for legislation Schneider said Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has called the leave women to die act. Negative campaigning is sadly being injected into the Democratic Congressional race. Some opponents and their supporters have tried to wrongfully question Brad Schneider’s Democratic pedigree based on campaign contributions. Do not be distracted by this negative assertion. Brad has always been a strong supporter of Israel, and like many Democrats in our District, made some contributions to some supportive people on the other side of the aisle. I know Brad’s commitment to the democratic core issues is steadfast and the overwhelming majority of his support has been for Democratic candidates to insure that Congress includes strong Democratic candidates in our area and neighboring states. When it comes to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, Rep. Democratic Congressional candidates Brad Schneider, Ilya Sheyman and Vivek Bavda got a challenge during their debate Wednesday from students at Stevenson High School. In a student run forum before more than 250 people at Stevenson, many of them students who are already of voting age, the three candidates got questions unlike many they have been asked at previous events. All three candidates and a fourth contender, Long Grove business owner John Tree, are running in the March 20 primary for the opportunity to challenge Rep. With just over a month to go before the March 20 primary, approximately half the Democratic voters planning to cast a ballot to nominate a candidate to oppose Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth) in the Nov. 6 general election remain unsure of their choice.
