District 112 Caucus Makes Endorsements

Three Highland Park residents were endorsed to serve on the District 112 School Board

The North Shore School District 112 caucus endorsed three candidates for the school board this weekend. Michael Cohn, Yumi Ross and Dr. Bruce Hyman were endorsed by the over 50-member caucus after reviewing presentations and conducting interviews with the four applicants. "These are all people that are involved and committed to the district, and it was a good process," said Eric Ephraim, vice chairman of the caucus. "Everyone walked out feeing good about the choices we had to make and the final decision." All three candidates are Highland Park residents with children who are currently attending or have attended District 112 schools. District 112 Caucus to Endorse Candidates for School Board

Made up of over fifty Highland Park residents, the caucus aims to find three residents best fit for school board.

Nobody knows when the District 112 caucus was founded. Some Highland Parkers believe it was back in 1993 when North Shore School District 112 came into existence after Districts 107, 108 and 111 were consolidated. Others believe it became a Highland Park institution in 2008, when Barbara Winer served as chairwoman and the caucus endorsed four candidates for the current School Board. All four won. The District 112 caucus — a coalition of over 50 Highland Park residents with and without school-age children — will endorse up to three candidates for next year's Board after a rigorous session of presentations and interviews on Dec. 4.
