There is no shortage of opinion from Patch readers about the North Shore’s first potential Walmart store on Skokie Valley Road just south of Dundee Road in Northbrook. There has also been a history of retail failure by mass merchandisers in this area dating to the time Sears was the western anchor of Northbrook Court. The location did not last for the company which was then the country’s largest retailer. Earlier: Walmart Seeks Northbrook Location J.C. Penny followed Sears in the location and did not last long. If you walked into the Highland Park Public Library Tuesday night, you might have found yourself surrounded by tables filled with high school students. There's a good chance they had been there all day. Final exams began for Highland Park High School students this week and end Thursday. To prepare, many students have turned the library into an impromptu study hall. "Everyone studying makes you want to study," said sophomore Maddie Kerch, who was sitting at a table covered in text books with sophomores Autumn Gibbons and Grace Sullivan. "At home you have your TV, you have your kitchen," agreed Gibbons, who was studying for an English exam.
